Things to Bring to the cottage for Your
Vacation
Temagami Summers: In the summer, days can
get very hot in Temagami. We can get weeks every summer where the temperature
will peak over 90. Remember to bring Bug Spray and a good suntan lotion. At the
same time of year, the nights can get pleasantly cool.
It's best to take a layered approach to
your wardrobe, enabling you to go with shorts or swimsuits and tee-shirts in
the daytime, but providing a light sweater and wind-breaker for the evenings.
We occasionally get thunderstorms, so light rain gear is a good idea.
Temagami Winters: Winters are generally
cold at the resort, with substantial snowfall in most years. Again, layers are
appropriate. Bring plenty of warm clothing for going outdoors, but have
something comfortable for sitting around a cozy cottage. Remember that snow can
turn to rain, so waterproof jackets are highly recommended.
Spring and Fall: Spring and fall can see
everything in between the summer heat and winter cold, with spring tending to
bring more moisture. Again, layers are the order of the day.
Groceries: We provide the kitchen, you
provide the groceries. There is a food store locally, with a good selection of
food and a good supply of fresh produce and meat, also, there is a liquor &
beer store not faraway .
We have all the necessary cooking
accouterments, such as pots, pans, utensils, etc. You will need your own coffee
filters (basket type), dish detergent, paper towels. We recommend you bring
bottled water to drink, our water has been upgraded to the new system and is
potable, but we still recommend bottled water.
Toiletries: You will need your own soap,
shampoo, toilet paper etc. We do not supply towels, wash cloths or hand towels
for your stay. If you want to use towels for outdoor activities, please bring
your own beach towels for that purpose. There are laundry facilities in town if
needed. You will need your own detergent, etc.
Medications; If you need them, bring them.
The closest pharmacy is a 45 minute drive south to North Bay or north to New
Liskeard.
Fireside: We supply the firewood! Bring
your own lawn chairs.
Swimming: There is excellent swimming in
spring-fed Angus Lake. Don't forget to bring beach towels and swim
suits.
Fishing Gear and License: There is some
tackle available in our store, as well as in Temagami stores, but if you're a
fishing fan, you'll want to bring your own gear. If you don't have a fishing
license, you can get one in Temagami. Don't fish without one, as the MNR game
wardens are very strict, and fines are heavy.
Hiking: If you're going to take advantage
of the hiking trails available around the Temagami and Marten River area, you
should bring:
- day packs for carrying food,
- extra water containers,
- a first aid kit
- good hiking boots
- sun protection
- insect repellent.
Phone: If you need to call long distance
there is a local pay phone. You can bring your own cell phone if you have
one.
Bed Linens: You can bring a sleeping bag
or bed linens, we do not provide linens.
Sun Protection: Sun protection is a
must.
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses
- Hats (to keep the sun off)
